Frequently asked Questions

I am not an artist. Can art therapy be helpful for me?

Absolutely. Art therapy is for everyone. You do not need to be an artist or have experience making art to benefit from art therapy. We will use creativity and talk therapy to explore areas of concern and work toward meeting your goals during our time together.

What should I expect during a consult?

Once we have set up a time to meet, I will call you to discuss areas of concern and thoughts regarding your goals for therapy. I will briefly go over the paperwork needed for treatment. Bring your questions for me as we explore if I am a good fit for your needs at this time.

What should I expect at my art therapy session?

Before our session:

  1. I will send you an email with a link for teletherapy a couple of days before our appointment.

  2. On the day of your session, gather supplies and set up your workspace.

  3. Choose a quiet private area and sit in a comfortable chair.

  4. Test your internet connection, open the link for our meeting that I sent in an email and hang out in the "waiting room" until I am ready to meet with you.

During our initial session, we will explore what is on your mind and your goals for therapy.

The structure of follow-up sessions will include an opening, touching base on concerns, and addressing resourcing to meet your therapeutic goals. We will make time for art, processing, reviewing, and closing our session together.
